The Survival Gap

Many children leave school early to support their family's income.

In many families we work with, every earning hand matters. Children as young as ten are often expected to work — running errands, helping at home, or taking up small jobs — simply so the household can make ends meet.

When survival and schooling compete for a child's time, survival almost always wins. This is rarely a choice families make lightly; it's often the only option they see.

We address this gap directly through nutritional support, flexible class timings, and by working with parents to show how a few consistent years of education can change a family's long-term prospects far more than a child's daily wage today.
